Objectives

After successfully having finished this module students are able to independently structure and write a scientific article and to critically evaluate theoretical findings.

Description

The seminar’s goal is to prepare you for writing your thesis, potentially at our chair. In this seminar you will learn to scientifically work on a question in the research area of innovation management. This winter term’s topic is “Firms’ insourcing of scientific knowledge”. For more information on suggested topics please refer to the “Courses” section on our homepage. Of course we are open to your topic suggestions as well.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in technology and innovation management, e.g. through courses such as - Technology and Innovation Management: Introduction - Advanced Technology and Innovation Management

Teaching and learning methods

The module consists of a seminar. The goals, format, and topics of the seminar will be discussed during the introduction session. Students are motivated to study the relevant literature and to thoroughly deal with the topics of the seminar. Students will independently work on a topic and hand in a term paper. This paper will be presented in class and discussed by the other students. During the course of the seminar students will be coached and supervised by the lecturer.

Examination

The grade consists of the term paper, the presentation of the term paper, discussion of another term paper, and general participation. The seminar rewards 4 Leistungspunkte (6 ECTS). The grade results from: term paper (60%), presentation (30%), discussion and participation (10%). You are expected to follow the rules and format of scientific conduct. Please refer to “Teaching" --> "Final Thesis” on our homepage.
